Rudy
2020 13 hh Haflinger Gelding
Rudy is the pony that every parent dreams of. He has enough "go" to keep the kid happy, while being sane enough to help your peace of mind when your kid climbs in the saddle. Rudy started out his life under western tack, going trail riding and working cattle and goats. Supposedly he is also broken to harness, but I have not seen proof of that and have no way to test that out. He has been transitioned to english, and has the cutest little trot and has taken to jumping like a fish out of water. While Rudy tends towards a kick ride, he is still young, so we do recommend at least a rider with experience cantering on their own. Rudy is very soft in the mouth and responsive to seat. Our dream spot for Rudy is to be a pony clubber's best friend!
Rudy is a point and shoot jumper, and has yet to say no to a jump he has been pointed at. He has been schooled to 2'3, with scope for more, and displays a lovely knees to nose jump. Rudy has seen lots of different filler, and has cross country schooled up to starter. He has been to an eventing derby, where he scored a 35 in his first time ever in a dressage arena with a 12 yr old at the reins. He got a little lost on the jump field by himself, which led to some steering disagreements, but he jumped every fence he was presented to on a massive pre-starter course. There were 6 horses that did not make it around the pre-starter course, and Rudy jumped every fence! With a little more experience, he will be a starter level packer with the potential to possibly go up to beginner novice with the right rider! We have also taken Rudy to off-property trail rides, where he has been absolutely lovely, and we plan to get him out fox hunting if he's still here when hunt season rolls around!
Rudy is easy to handle on the ground, ties and cross ties, stands for the vet, farrier, and baths. He is easy to load and is bottom of the totem pole in the field.
